Regulation NO 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and the Commission forbade, effective June 6, 2009, the sale of new mercury fever thermometers in the EU countries. This led to spread of thermometers filled with gallium, indium and tin liquid alloys or ethanol, as well as digital thermometers. Maximum thermometers had to be shaken down after use, which some alloys make difficult. Mercury-free thermometer Tro-Ovatherm, Troge GmBH, Germany, around 2001. NML Medical Museum, P 806.
