Maurice Éguisier (1813 Objat – 1851) graduated in medicine in Paris in 1837, with a dissertation Considérations générales sur quelques maladies des femmes and subsequently worked at the Parisian Dispensatoire Oeuvre de Sainte Genevieve, a public women’s clinic, founded in 1936 and directed by Stanislaus Tanchou (1791-1850). In 1842, he published the results of his research on urine pregnancy testing in the Gazette des hopitaux civils et militaires.
