The Union of German Physicians- Drivers in Czechoslovakia (Verband deutscher kraftfahrender Ärzte in der Tschechoslowakischen Republik) was founded on May 12, 1929 in Jáchymov (Joachimsthal), inspired by the medical doctor’s automobile club in Germany (Dresden, since 1909). The Union offered full membership to physicians, associate membership without voting rights to veterinarians and pharmacists. The Verband rejected the creation of the Aesculap Autoclub, open to both Czech and German doctors, and the relationship of both clubs remained strained. Primarily German-speaking doctors from the border regions joined the Verband, while German doctors of the capital chose Aesculap. The advantages given by the respective badges in majority Czech or German regains certainly influenced their choice.
